FAQ’s
Do I have to prepare my skin before this peel?
No. The Blue Peel radiance is a superficial, Salicylic Acid face peel, so generally no skin preparation is required. You can have it on the day of your appointment, regardless of ethnicity, complexion, or skin type.
However, if you do suffer from extremely dry skin, we recommend hydrating the skin prior to having a face peel. We are able to provide you with hydrating creams that are available to purchase in clinic.
Are there any products I need to stop before this chemical peel?
You will need to stop using any active skincare products, e.g. containing retinol, glycolic, other AHA’s or bleaching products, for 3 days prior to your peel.
It is recommended that you have not had sunbed treatment or experienced sunburn or any other form of burn to the face in the 4 weeks prior to your peel.
What are the after-care products post peel?
We recommend using a medical moisturiser to help the shedding of dead skin after your chemical peel.
We also advise consistent use of SPF following your peel for at least 2 weeks.
What is the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance?
It is a chemical peel composed of salicylic acid, with smaller amounts of glycolic and lactic acid. The aim of the peel is to work to exfoliate and brighten the complexion. A skin peel is a cosmetic treatment that removes a layer of damaged skin from the face to reveal the newer, healthier layer beneath.
What are the acids and concentrations in this peel?
Obagi Blue Peel radiance contains 20% Salicylic Acid, 2% Glycolic Acid and 2% Lactic Acid.
Is this peel for the face or body?
The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance can be used on the face, neck , shoulders, upper Back.
How many peels do I need?
We recommend a course of 3 peels for best results in complexion and skin, it is a superficial peel you would need a course of 3 to 6 treatments to see dramatic results or treat actual skin conditions. For example, as a chemical peel for acne or chemical peel for hyperpigmentation you would need 3-6 treatments.
However, some clients have the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel as a one-off to freshen the skin or control acne breakouts, and you see results from the first peel.
Is there any downtime?
There is minimal downtime, this is a superficial peel and the peeling/flaking effects tend to last 1-2 days. There can be some redness and itching, this normally subsides within 24 hours.
